Statutory Protections not available 1.Forgery: If the cheque is forged, and the collecting banker fails to detect the forgery, they may be held liable for any losses that result. 2.Alterations: If the cheque is altered in any way, such as changing the amount or the payee, and the collecting banker fails to detect the alteration, they may be held liable for any losses that result.
